A state-level yoga function is being organised in Karnal on the occasion of International Yoga Day tomorrow. The administration is not leaving any stone unturned to make the even in Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s constituency a grand show.
The volunteers of Patanjali Yoga Samiti and Bharat Swabhiman Trust have been working for the last several days to make this event remarkable. Around 30,000 people including CM Khattar, Ramdev’s close aide Acharayaa Bal Krishan, Swami Gyananand, ministers, MLAs, students and others are expected to participate in the event scheduled to begin at 6am.
Jaideep Arya would conduct the 35-minute-long session, while trained children would also perform yoga at the event, said Deputy Commissioner J. Ganesan.
Ganesan claimed the total expenditure on the event was Rs 75 lakh including the cost of tents, surround sound, t-shirts, refreshment and other expenses.
“There would be three stages including the main stage. The total area is about 12 acres, including 9.5 acres covered. The whole pandal has been divided in 56 sectors, with a capacity for 30,000 people,” the DC asserted.
Meanwhile, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Ram Niwas reviewed the arrangements for the Yoga Day. The DC further stated that t-shirts for participants would be distributed on the spot and the participants would be there by 5:30am.
The police have chalked out an elaborate plan at Sector 32, 33 and surrounding areas. There would be around 1,500 police personnel along with dog squads and metal detectors in and around the venue.
